Dulwich Park
The Green Flag Award Winning Park
Thirsty for warm and sunny days, Londoners know their local parks. When the summer starts, flowers bloom and the smell of freshly cut grass fills the air; you know you need to make the best of it. Located fairly close to West and North Dulwich stations, one of its gates faces the East Dulwich Picture Gallery. Dulwich park offers exciting sports activities and perfect picnic spots.
Created in the 1890's, it was often visited by Queen Mary - she enjoyed the view of American blooming gardens so one of the gates was named in her honour. Dulwich Park is often visited by local families, it has a large children's playground, a boating lake offering family and children's sized pedalos, rowing boats (£2 per child, £4 per adult) and a lovely park café which is open 8:30-5 pm Mon-Fri and 9-5:30 pm Sundays. The variety of sports facilities is something Dulwich Park should be particularly proud of. The list includes football pitches, cycle hire, bowling, tennis, basketball courts, table tennis and even a wide range of outdoors gym equipment for public use!
Dulwich park is a beautiful place to visit, I would definitely recommend visiting the park in May, when the Rhododendrons bloom in pink, purple and red colours creating a magical atmosphere which deserves to be appreciated.
