Essential Emergency Numbers
The ones you must know during your stay in London
Emergency numbers are often different from one country to another.
Even if you live in Europe, UK's numbers are probably not the same from your country.
Here's a list of 4 numbers that could be very useful for you if you have any sort of problem.
2 of them are emergency numbers, and the other 2 are non-emergency numbers.
EMERGENCY NUMBERS :
- 999 : the equivalence of 911 in the US, made for people who are in a real emergency (for example someone is seriously ill or injured, or a crime is in progress).
- 112 : You probably know this one if you live in the European Union. This one works the same as the 999 except for one tiny thing : you can it wherever you are, even if it's a lost land, you'll always have a signal.
NON-EMERGENCY NUMBERS :
- 101 : Useful when you need information from the police about something that has already happened (Example : Your car has been stolen, your property has been damaged, your home has been broken into, etc...)
You can also call this number if you have a general enquiry, or if you want to give information about a crime, if you witnessed a crime...
[WARNING : CALLS ARE CHARGED 15 PENCE PER CALL]
- 111 : Use this for illnesses and minor injuries where life isn’t threatened, but you would like some advice on what to do next.
