A new era for romance

Flowers for all

Romance is changing! Once upon a time men bought flowers for weddings, anniversaries and birthdays, that was it. But now things have changed; it seems as though the younger generation are far more open to flowers and romance than they’ve ever been before.

“I’ve been doing this for about 36 years now.” Recalls Rose-Marie from Patricia’s flower shop in Victoria. “When I first started men would come in buy some flowers for their wife or mother and I’d have to wrap them in about ten bags so no one could see them, now it’s very different.”

It seems as the years have gone on; flowers are no longer seen as a solely feminine present for special occasions, the younger generation are more than happy to splurge on flowers and enjoy the wide variety of choices.

“I get a lot of regular customers in here,” continues Rose-Marie. “But I enjoy seeing the younger ones the most. They never have any problems and they really enjoy buying flowers for people. I think that’s so nice.”
