Junkyard Golf
Crazy golf in crazy settings
London is a city full of odd concepts. From eating in the pitch black to inhaling alcohol, the City seems to have an answer for anything and everything when it comes to the question of what to do with your evening when visiting London. However, its new trend is the oddest one yet – London has somehow made crazy golf become cool. Yes, you heard right, the newest concept to grip the Capital is the game you used to play with your grandparents on a weekend away to Camber Sands.
The guys over at Junkyard Golf have conceptualised a game that is fun, funky and fashionable with fixtures made out of bits of scrap and charity shop clutter forming a variety of different and surprisingly difficult courses. You’ll find yourself navigating through dogs, cows, treadmills and pool tables in search for the lowest score amongst your group. There’s currently 3 courses open with a 4th one scheduled to open in September 2016, all of them are themed with the standout being ‘Helga’, a course which features a range of garage inspired holes including ’21 Seconds Go-lf’ which unsurprisingly, you have 21 seconds to complete whilst images or Garage legends (and Dane Bowers) flash in the background.
Open Monday - Sunday from 12pm – 11pm, I would say the evening is the best time to go. With 4 bars conjuring up cracking cocktails and an assortment of beers as well as street food vendors Barts Dog Kart delivering delicious dogs, Junkyard Golf is the perfect place to begin your night out on the town. However it’s also a great option for a few fun hours with the family in the daytime, with it being a bit quieter and less rowdy. Also, with pricing being set at £11 per person, it’s extremely reasonable given the amount of entertainment and fun provided. So put on your flat caps and practice your swing and head on down to Junkyard golf for one of the most entertaining and slightly bizarre experiences you will have within the capital.
