Kensington –The French Neighborhood of London

It reminds me of something…

« Bonjour ! », « Ça va ? », « Au revoir ! ». If London is called « the sixth city in France », that’s because London is chosen by a lot of French people to work or to spend their holidays - Kensington hosts many of them. Actually, if you would like to learn more about French culture, you can become a member of the « Institut Français » which provides various activities related to French History, French music, French food in fact « français de everything »

The heart of the French community is the Institut Français, the official French government centre of language and culture in London, which has been teaching French since 1910. Part of a worldwide network encouraging cross-cultural exchange and cultural diversity, it comprises of a language centre, cinema , libraries, a French bistro (Le Bis-trot), and welcomes 200,000 people each year. The Language Centre attracts 7,000 students every year, offers traditional language courses as well as business French and courses on various aspects of French culture and current affairs.

Once you have done that I suggest you visit Kensington High street. If you like Oxford Street, I think you will like this part of London too. Here you can spend your complete holiday budget in a day - so be careful ;-)

One more recommendation is that you walk through the Kensington Gardens. This place, located next to Hyde Park, is wonderful, even if the weather is not always perfect (of course, it is better when it is sunny). I particularly enjoyed Kensington Palace with the beautiful sunken garden.
