Lunch in Greenwich

Boat trip and market lunch

To spend the day in Greenwich and get the most out of it you are going to want to leave a little early and head down to the pier to catch a boat. It only costs £8 without and oyster card and £5.35 with one for the trip there, which is actually cheaper than buying a round trip ticket on the underground. The boat ride takes about 45 minutes and while on the river you can see the iconic sights of the London Eye, Big Ben, and the Tower Bridge. Once off the boat you will see the Old Royal Navy college. If you walk straight in, like I did, you will find a free museum about the history of Greenwich which I recommend checking out if not only just for the photo opportunity that lets you dress as a sailor and take a selfie. Make sure to take a walk around the rest of the campus too and you will probably find someone with a guitar that you can stop and listen to for awhile. After the college, head down the street towards the Greenwich market where you will find vendors selling clothes, jewellery, leather goods, and probably see some artists working on their newest piece while being able to see what works they are selling. I grabbed lunch at the market because they had options ranging from BBQ, Italian, and Thai for a good price. Unfortunately the market doesn’t offer a lot of seating so I took my meal and walked a couple blocks up to Greenwich park to sit on the grass and eat with a beautiful view of the trees and the Observatory up on the hill.
