Made In Brasil Boteco

Favela Flavors in North London

Nestled just north of the hustle of Camden Town lies a welcome oasis. A rooftop bar sits dormant waiting for the distant summer months. On the interior, however, the colors come alive.

A brilliant bar littered with hues pastel and serene. It is quiet at midday on a Sunday, but one can imagine this place on a warm summer night.

I am led to my seat. The menu beckons with choices of Brazilian tapas and drink specials. I decide upon the Carne de sol com mandioca accompanied by a caipirinha.

The dish is pan fried salted beef tossed with fried cassava. Simple in execution but not in taste. The cassava and beef combine in a nostalgic and stately manner. The fresh lime and sugar of the caipirinha serve a perfect partner to my hearty entrée.

Satisfied, I linger in the establishment appreciating its energy. It is deserving of its name. The Boteco is a traditional place for good drink, elegant snacks and chats. This is no different. I long to return on a proper night, but leave greatly impressed with my meal.
