Matcha Made In Heaven
Pair a coffee with a matcha cookie for that extra buzz!
London living has turned me in to a bit of a caffeine addict - it’s hardly my fault, with at least 10 coffee shops in a 500m radius it’s almost unavoidable! Especially on a cool, British wintry morning, the first thing I want when I leave my house is a warm, frothy coffee that I can cradle gently in my hands like a new born baby. Also, it’s the city that never sleeps, which normally results in you never sleeping either. So, often, a coffee is the only thing that’s going to get me through another hectic day in The Big Smoke.
For the London traveller with so many attractions to see, sometimes the caffeine kick from coffee simply wont suffice and you need an even bigger energy boost. And I know just the thing! The other day I’d booked myself an early morning yoga class (regrettably so as I’d ended up having a late one the previous night) and waking in a state of total exhaustion, I knew it was going to take more than just a coffee to get me through this class. So I headed straight to Store Street Espresso in Bloomsbury and ordered myself a cappuccino AND a Matcha and White Chocolate Cookie. Have you heard of Matcha? No? It’s powdered Green Tea extract which can be used as an ingredient or to make a tea latte. Because it is pure, crushed tea leaf, it contains way more caffeine than a green tea bag, almost as much as a cup of coffee! So, a combination of the two meant I had the best yoga class of my life! My cookie was a delicious breakfast choice; Matcha has a slightly sweet, earthy taste and the texture of the cookie was crumbly yet simultaneously melt in the mouth - I definitely recommend you head there and give it a try, and with double the energy boost you can practically conquer London!
