Sailing from Putney to Embankment

A stress-free journey with a lovely view

In London, words like 'travel, 'commute' and 'transport' can cause a slight irritation (even a tick in your eye if you tend to travel during rush hours). Apparently, there is a way to get from A to B stress and traffic-free. After a lovely walk by the river Thames in South-West, Putney, I've decided to explore the possibility of embracing the experience and continuing my journey by river bus from Putney Pier to Embankment.

I started snapping pictures, one after another, as the river bus roared departing from the Putney Pier station. It was a warm, sunny Tuesday afternoon - a perfect day for an open air choice of travel. I caught my mouth curve into a smile as lungs filled up with fresh air and London opened up its urban landscape in a way I've never seen before.

My advice - plan ahead, Putney Pier buses stop running at 9:50 and then continue their timetable from 17:27 to 21:10 (how about a late ride for a stunning sunset view?). Ticket prices depend on your destination, Putney-Embankment prices vary from five to eight pounds and you get a one third discount if you travel using oyster top-up.

I have great experience in procrastination that comes before trying something new, my advice for you - push aside the doubts and stop waiting for the 'perfect weather' or the 'perfect occasion'. Refresh your travel experience with a relaxing, traffic-free boat ride through the River Thames and give yourself an opportunity to take that rare picture of the London Eye or Big Ben which would not include a crowd of tourists.
