London's Beautiful Mother Church

St Paul’s Cathedral is one of the most famous churches to visit in London. It is situated in the business district and is a very famous destination for every visiting tourist.

This church was built in 1674 by Christopher Wren who was a scholar and an astronomer. While he was building this new cathedral he was also building hundreds of other churches around town.The unique St. Pauls cathedral was built after the destruction of the old building during Great Fire of London of 1666.

Wren's cathedral is a mixture of classic and baroque architectures. The beautiful dome, of a 65 000 ton weight is consisted with three imbricated envelopes but also of one bell towers. The summit of the dome makes approximately 111,3 meters in height. A room also has was created to receive the portraits of kings and queens, which is 45 meters in length and 10 meters in width, in honour of the queen. The dome houses numerous stained-glass windows and was funded by diamonds donated by the queen to Christopher Wren to thank him for his courage and its beautiful work. On the side of the cathedral there are two towers which host different bells. It took 40 years to build this cathedral, more than 1000 person were working to create this unique and beautiful church.
