Diary of a Teenager !

Teens about town

My day in London started with blueberry pancakes and green juice at Bill’s in Westfield London – perfect fuel for a busy day ahead. Drizzled with maple syrup, the pancakes were fluffy, moist and sweet – everything pancakes should be. My dad, being a big meat fan had a more typically British breakfast: full English (eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast). After breakfast, I hopped on the 49 bus to Chelsea to explore King’s Road. It was full of designer shops and expensive boutiques – far more than I could afford with my £10 note.
Next I took the tube to the Museum of London, where I learnt about the history of London, from its earliest settlers to the Romans to the 2012 Olympics. It’s a really interesting museum especially as it covers the entire history of the capital all in one place. I like fashion so it was cool to see what people would wear 50, 500 and 5,000 years ago.

Lunch was a grilled chicken salad from Pret, which I ate outside St Paul's Cathedral in the cold. I did regret trying to be healthy and not ordering something warm and cheesy as the smell of warm croissants and toasties wafted towards me from nearby cafes. I headed to the Tate and walked across the pedestrian bridge over the Thames.

The Tate was packed as usual. About half of the galleries are free admission, so I had a look around those ones. Most of the works were abstract art (which I must admit I have never really understood), however, there were some more thought-provoking pieces about issues such as racism and sexism. The Tate has art by some of the world’s most famous artists such as Pablo Picasso and Claude Monet, which were overshadowed by more eye-catching works. I particularly liked the optical illusions, which made the paintings appear to be moving.
Dinner was the pre-theatre menu at Maxwell’s in Covent Garden: 3 courses for £14.95. My starter was a colossal heaping of chilli fried squid, which was so big it felt like a main course. For mains, I had a burger and fries: classic, unhealthy and absolutely delicious. To finish my fried food fest, I ordered an ice cream sundae. Once I had wolfed it down and helped finish off my dad’s strawberry shortcake, I felt like I was about to burst, but very happy .

What was also sick was the Snapchat filters. Depending on my location, I could choose a different background filter for my pictures. They are based on your location and London being such a big city had loads. So when I post my pictures everyone knew I was there! I liked the traditional lamppost .
