Historical Walk East London: £10.00
You bought a Historical Walk East London on the 23rd Dec at 07:24
This is a walk that gets right to the heart of the area known as the Red Cliffs by the Romans. The walk itself is about 2 miles long and takes about two hours.
Once a dismal marsh, now an area alive with history where the great explorers set off to seek the north west passage. We will see what was once the home of the East India Company’s Gunpowder Dock, the art deco cinema where the staff sprayed perfume, the retreat that dates back to the 12th century and the tenth most dangerous tunnel in the world.
In the 1920s thousands of young sailors were “open to every temptation”, where did they stay? Around the same time Londoners were appalled and enthralled in equal measure, by the salacious tales of sex slavery and opium dens in Chinatown. All this and David Owen’s house too.
Lunch to follow in London’s most historic pub.
