This park has an English Heritage Grade II listing. It is part from the largest park in South London and one of the most significant parks in the country. There are also Italian terraces, a café, children`s play areas, a former boating lake, a maze, a fishing lake, concert bowl and a children`s farm. Walking through the park visitors will find full scale models of dinosaurs almost everywhere, on the lake, near to the trees, in their path!
The park is open all year.
History
The park was designed to impress, educate, entertain and inspire Victorian visitors and eventually became an international attraction. To finance the park, the visitors were required to pay an entrance fee and there have always been displays, events and sporting activities since its inception. The Crystal Palace was a military camp during the Second World War and then a depository for bomb damage rubble.
how to get there
The best way to get there is to take the Overground from London Bridge to West Croydon and get off at Penge West. The park is approximately 7 minutes walk.
