History

The airport was opened by the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War and it was requisitioned by the War Office in 1916. Then between the wars, it was used by a number of experimental units. The airport was closed from 1929 to 1932 for reconstruction work. The airport has also been used as a commanding bases for the Battle of Britain during the Second Worl War.

How to get there

To get there you can take the train to Hayes an get off at Hayes and then take the bus number 246 at Hayes station and get off 18 stops later at Biggin Hill / Black Horse, or there is the bus number 320 who stop you at the same place.
