Based in Holborn in the centre of London, Conway Hall is home to many of the country`s leading speakers and artists and is the landmark of London`s independent intellectual, political and cultural life. It advocates secular humanism and is a member of the International Humanist and Ethical Union.Visitors will be able to find events, art exhibitions, courses, workshops, film and performance art , music, talk, debates and lectures and special events
History
Conway Hall was founded in 1888 by William Johnson Fox (South Place Chapel) and Stanton Colt (Ethical Society). In 1929 a new building was built, Conway Hall, at 37 (now number 25 Red Lion Square in nearby Bloomsbury). The name was chosen in honour of Moncure Daniel Conway (1832 – 1907), anti-slavery advocate and out-spoken supporter of free thought and biographer of Thomas Paine.
