A superlative cinematic experience
Enjoy a totally immersive cinematic experience and watch a film at the BFI IMAX nestled in the lee of Waterloo Bridge. The screen is an absolute whopper and more than 20 metres high (that`s nearly the height of five double-decker buses!) and 26 metres wide.it has a recently refurbished auditorium and is both spacious and comfortable including a row of comfy and cosy double seats (Centre block Row P. It now boasts both luxury premium and standard seats in response to customer requests, and has plush carpeting throughout.
Put a massive screen together with an impressive surround sound and the experience is an awesome one. Reasonably priced snacks and a friendly service produces an overall high satisfaction rate.
Fact and Figures
The cinema was designed by Bryan Avery of Avery Associates Architects and completed in May 1999 and is home to Britain’s largest movie screen It has a seating capacity of just under 500 and a 12,000 Watt digital surround sound system. Although the site is surrounded by traffic and has an underground line just four metres below, the architects and engineers accounted for this in their design and the entire upper structure sits on anti vibration bearings to prevent noise propagation.
