PIN Paxton & Whitfield

Fantastic British Fromagerie

In the words of Winston Churchill: A gentleman only buys his cheese from Paxton and Whitfield. Little has changed in that respect but at least you do not need to be a peer of the realm to be allowed to purchase their wondrous cheeses from this venerable cheesemonger who started in the business in 1797. Every imaginable British cheese is in attendance including Red Leicester, Cheddar, Lincolnshire Poacher, Stichelton and naturally Stilton. There is also a plethora of cheese accessories in store for visitors looking for that unique gift to take home.

How to get there

4 minutes by walk from the Piccadilly Circus underground station.
2 minutes by walk from the Old Bond Street Royal Academy bus stop.

History

The true origin of Paxton & Whifield began in 1742 when Stephen Cullum set up a cheese stall in Aldwych market. The Company's reputation has grown steadily, culminating in 1850 with the honour of being appointed cheesemonger to HM Queen Victoria.
