PIN St Dunstan`s Church
An incredible garden
St Dunstan`s Church is a medieval church in ruins, halfway between London Bridge and the Tower of London in the City of London. Bombed during the blitz, it`s now a public garden. This old gothic church is in complete contrast with the modern steel towers, the garden is in harmony with the ruins and has many beautiful plants and flowers.
History
The Church of St Dunstan was originally built around 1100. The church was severely damaged in 1666 by the Great Fire of London and then partially rebuild.
Later it was again destroyed but this time in the Blitz of 1941. It was decided not to rebuild the church.
In 1967 the Corporation of City of London decided to turn the ruins of the Church of St Dunstan into a public garden, which opened in 1970.
