Lovely green place to go and just be
The Telegraph Hill Park is a large green place where you can play to sport, take a stroll, have your lunch or find a place to relax and just be. The park is located in Lewisham and bordered by New Cross. There are 18 nature reserves in the borough that you can visit and enjoy. There are also picnic areas Telegraph Hill Park where you can enjoy your gastro-picnic . There are plenty of sports areas to let off steam where you can play football, cricket, tennis and even an skate board park and a gym.
History
The land was purchased by Haberdashers' Livery Company who made it a market garden in 1614. The Semaphore station was installed on Telegraph Hill as link between the stations at St. George in the Fields and Shooters Hill. In 1893 the site was closed for construction then finally opened to the public in 1895. Today it is a free and public park.
How to get there
The best way to get there is to take a bus, the number N343 serves close to the park, you have to get off at Kitto Road. The Park is located around 30minutes from the centre.
