Deptford`s Multi-Purpose Arts Centre
The Albany is a multi purpose arts centre in Deptford. There are always plays, music events, dance events and even a gardening club. It is a very popular theatre with more than 180,000 visitors last year and around 400 events organised. The Albany is also a well known eco-venue which can seat up to 250 people (500 standing).
There is a good a café bar, where you can eat, drink and be merry as well as garden with free wifi ( just have to ask the reception for the password).
History
The original date of the Albany was planned for 1894.
The theatre supported in 1970's, a cause the Rock Against Racism, a national compaign against racism who has reunited white and black musician's to make concerts around the country. But in 1978, the theatre was burnt down by an group opposed to the Albany's support. In 1980's, the theatre is became
How to get there
You can take the DLR Lewisham and get off at Deptford Bridge and walk 9 minutes or take a bus number 53 / 177 / 453 and get off at Florence Road and walk 5 minutes to get there.
