PIN The Albert

History meets good beer in Victoria

This Grade II listed pub is as well-known for its eye-catching frontage and traditional interior as it is for its warm welcome and hospitality. It is a short walk from the Houses of Parliament, and situated on the site of an earlier pub, The Blue Coat Boy.

History

The Albert has over 150 years of history. In the mid-19th century the Artillery Brewery purchased the pub for £978 , they renamed it The Albert in tribute to Queen Victoria’s husband.

The Albert is found in the centre of Westminster, with its striking façade and superb Victorian detail. It was built in 1862 and is the only remaining building from the original phase of the development of Victoria Street.

The Albert was a survivor of the Blitz and its Victorian features have stayed virtually untouched. There are many original features for you to enjoy, including ornate ceilings, hand-etched frosted glass windows and wrought iron balconies. There is some special memorabilia, including the House of Commons Division Bell and one of Queen Victoria’s napkins. There is also a Prime Minister’s gallery, which is an acknowledgement to political figures of the past, some of whom have visited and enjoyed the offerings of The Albert.

Other important stuff

A motivated and well organised staff know their regulars well who come from the local offices and shops. There is a plentiful selection of beer and wine with a '2 for 3' offer on selected wines. Visitors strolling through Victoria will be welcomed anytime of day.
