PIN The Dove
Historic and intimate pub on the riverbank
The Dove is a legendary Grade II listed pub located in Hammersmith. It sits on the bank of the Thames at the top of a bend offering wonderful views all around. Definitely in the top ten best riverside pubs in London. The tiny bar serves a range of draught ales. It has proudly sat there since the 17th century serving beer throughout the ages to Graham Greene, Ernest Hemingway, Dylan Thomas and Alec Guinness. James Thomson wrote the poem Rule Britannia while staying here, and William Morris lived next door.
History
The Dove has reigned supreme for centuries and during this reign has become a firm fixture of west London pub life. The 18th-century poet and pub regular James Thompson reputedly wrote the words to Rule, Britannia here within site of the waves of the Thames. Just one look above the fireplace in the small dark wooden front bar and there is a list of the luminaries as long as your arm who have dropped in to sup over the years.

TripTide Thoughts
A more typical pub is hardly to find. Very old, small and beautiful, with a nice terrace overviewing the river - spectacular in its simplicity.
