PIN The Jerusalem Tavern
A bit of Suffolk in Clerkenwell
The pub occupies a 1790 building which is owned by the St. Peter`s Brewery in Suffolk. In a moated hall in the countryside they produce more than 20 high quality traditional ales which are then served in the pub. they include Best Bitter, Mild and Golden on cask and IPA, Ruby Porter and Spelt Blonde by the bottle.
The Ambiance
This Farringdon bar has the sort of shabby/Dickensian look many pubs invest a lot of time, effort and money into imitating but the Jerusalem is just a natural. The wooden floor is scuffed, paint is peeling throughout and weathered tables are pleasantly soiled by several centuries of beer spillage.
Although the rooms inside date from the eighteenth century, it has only been a pub since 1990. If you like what you taste, you can pick up a five-litre mini-keg of the pub’s most popular brews to take home. Seating is limited and the favourite sitting spot near the fire is much sought after. Drinking on the outside pavement is not discouraged as the inside drinking often spill out onto the outside.
