PIN The Rivington
Simplicity and stylish Greenwich dining
Located in the same building as the Greenwich Picture House, Rivington is a neighbourhood family restaurant, a short walk from Greenwich University, the Cutty Sark and Royal Maritime Museum. It provides simple, British dishes, with a seasonal menu made up of ingredients sourced from the British Isles and Ireland, all from independent, responsible suppliers. Set over two storeys, with a loft-style dining room and a relaxed eating counter, a mezzanine seating 45 people for private parties and a 25-seat terrace, it’s decorated in an understated but classic style
What to expect
This place is a sister to the edgier Shoreditch original and has a definite maritime feel about it and comes replete with brass railings and mirror-lined mezzanine.
The cooking is of a modern style and simple approach aimed at highlighting good ingredients. Marinated sardines are found cosying up to radish and fennel salad, devilled mackerel with tomato & basil salad. Menus change from lunch to dinner and desserts are of a fundamentalist British variety and slanted comfort food. Cocktails are a major feature, with lists focussed on both gin and the Bloody Mary. The wine list is priced in the good value bracket with a decent £30 bottle the norm.
