Discover Bageriet

Delicious Scandinavian treats in Covent Garden

Down Rose Street, a picturesque cobbled crevice in the backstreets of Covent Garden, there is a uniquely delicious stop. It is Bageriet, a compact Swedish bakery. They bake delicious Nordic pastries daily, my favourite always up in the window as I head into work. If I end up poor and a few kilos heavier, it will be the fault of Bageriet!

Opened by bakers Daniel Karlsson and Sven-Gunnar Appelgren, Bageriet has quickly established itself as a source of some of the best buns in London's centre. It's an unassuming venue, small but packing a punch.

With specialities like Smörgåstårta (sandwich cake), seasonal delights, biscuits, cakes, and more, this small store is a pastry oasis in central London. The service is friendly and the front window is always filled with beautifully coloured treats. It certainly is a little nook of sugary goodness, taking a little imagination to discover.

My favourite treat always tempts me as I pass by, and I never fail to rummage through pockets for the loose change to take one home with me. I encourage anyone passing through Covent Garden to investigate Bageriet; if you're unfamiliar with Scandinavian pastries, you're in for a very pleasant surprise.
