Best Ice Skating Rinks
Taking advantage of winter in the city
With everyone breaking out their large winter coats and scarves you might have realized winter is upon us and be looking around for winter activities in London. A big one to pop up around this time of year is ice skating. If you’re looking for a place to skate a little outside the city with a bit of British history next to it, check out the ice rink in Hampton Court. It costs £13.50 for an adult ticket for 45 minutes on the ice including skate rental. When else would you get the chance to skate next to the palace of a famous king (in this case Henry VIII)?
Or, if history isn’t what you’re looking for, consider heading down to Liverpool street station and go ice skating in a more modern area like Broadgate. Here you can skate for an hour for £13.50 including skate rentals and when you’re not skating you can grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants next to the rink or walk a little further down Shoreditch High St and get a bite at one of the street food carts.
Another option for someone who might want to embrace the season fully, or looking for a great place to spend the day with family, should head to Hyde Park. It’s ice rink is part of Winter Wonderland which has everything from rides, a market, several food stands, and various shows. You can spend 50 minutes of your time there skating (for £14.50) and still have plenty to do in just that area that you could make an entire day of it. Whichever location you choose (and no matter how many times you fall) you won’t regret spending this winter trying out the different ice rinks around the city.
