The Rose Garden, Hyde Park
Wake Up & Smell The Roses
I explore this city that I love in one of two ways; scouring the depths of the Internet for the secrets others have found, and two? Wandering. Though the first option surely does guarantee you’ll find something to your tastes, the second lets you discover even well-known tourist spots with a sense of surprise and wonderment. My example for you today is of the Rose Garden in Hyde Park.
As a student I lived within walking distance to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, and I’ve probably spent days wandering around it more than I have any other area (this statement does not include commutes!). However, as I lived right next door to these parks, I never once felt the need to search it up. To make a list of to-dos and to-sees.
That sort of surprise lends itself to the Rose Gardens. I happened upon these roses after walking to Victoria Station on a particularly lovely day in the middle of June. I had travelled nearby so many times before, but I was incredibly early to meet my friend, and I had decided to take my time and some photos
I wasn’t expecting the throngs of roses and wildflowers. Because I hadn’t ever heard of it before, it felt like my own secret garden. There were so few people in it that it felt secluded. It felt like it was mine. I took many photos of this secret little garden of mine. Maybe take a moment to find yours?
