Second Cup Coffee

A little cup of Canada in Notting Hill

There aren't very many Canadians in the world which is why, I assume, when we move to a new city we try and bring a bit of Canada with us. It makes us feel close to home and allows us to unite with fellow countrypeople no matter where we are. Normally this home away from home comes in the form of a bar flying a Canadian flag and serving Canadian beer. A safe space where Canadians can gather to watch an ice hockey game, apologise profusely for everything and anything and use slang words the rest of the world find baffling.

Imagine my surprise when, whilst wandering around Notting Hill, I stumbled upon a coffee shop where I could ask for a double double (well, almost), an extra serviette and enjoy it on a chesterfield!
Translation: I could ask for a coffee, an extra napkin and enjoy it on a sofa.

Second Cup Coffee Company first opened its doors in Toronto, ON in 1975 and has since made its way around the world. It is located both on Portobello Road and also in Fulham in London and is definitely an amazing home away from home.

Canadians visiting London, rejoice! A cup of Paradiso and a slice of pumpkin pie await!
