Fiction - Because Real Life Is Terrible
Escape reality through the wonders of written word!
This sign actually made me laugh out loud when I saw it outside of the Waterstones at Torrington Place, I even had to take stop and take a photo! I love Waterstones. And, I especially love that branches of Waterstones are opening cafes now (known as Cafe W.) I’m an avid reader (a book worm, if you please) and I can literally spend hours (yes I mean hours) in the book store deciding on what my next read should be. And to do this, I start reading a little bit. Yes I know it’s a bit cheeky because it’s a book store, not a library, BUT, there’s nothing worse than buying a book that you end up not enjoying - so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with seeing if I’m going to enjoy it first. Ever heard of try before you buy? You don’t go clothes shopping and buy clothes without trying them on first do you? I think the same applies to books! Anyway, before the cafe’s I used to kind of hide in a corner somewhere and try and sneakily read a couple of pages, but now I just grab my prospective books, order a latte and settle down for a little light reading. Besides, I always end up buying at least one book! Sometimes I head to the cafe to do some work on my laptop as I get far too distracted when I try to work at home and a library is far too quiet, but at Cafe W, it’s studious because you're surrounded by books but there’s also a little bit of a buzz. Plus, two words we all love to hear - free wi-fi.
Another reason I love Waterstones, is because they have a loyalty card - for every £10 you send you get a stamp - you get your 11th book free!
