Lucy's London honey is procured from a selection of London's bee-keepers. Their apiaries can be found at all points of the London compass. There are a plethora of bee colonies in our city - each one producing different honey with its own intrinsic flavour, texture and colour. As the seasons change, so does the pollen and nectar upon which the bees depend to make honey. We have put together a unique selection of local honey from bee-hives around London providing a distinctive flavour of areas represented.

1) Bushwood Bees, from East London deliver a marvellous taste of Epping Forest in a 270-gram jar from the edges of Epping Forest. This is 5,900 acres of ancient woodlands, grasslands, and wetlands and one of London's three areas of special conservation containing over 230 species of plants some of which are very rare. The honey from this area has a very unique multi-floral taste, no doubt due to the numerous plants available for the bees to forage on. The area contains over 22 species of trees including Sweet Chestnut, Lime, English Oak, as well as fruiting varieties.

2) The award-winning Royal Albert Dock London Honey comes in a 330-gram jar filled with silky-textured raw honey with big brambly notes of fruitcake and peach tea. Beyond the Thames barrier, East London’s riverside offers some surprising spaces where bees can prosper in the re-vitalised Royal Albert Dock which offers a wealth of the wild forage. There is a wealth of the wild forage that honeybees will always seek in preference to cultivated garden flowers. Pioneer species such as Black Alder, Willow, Robinia, Bramble, Dandelion, Elder and Tree of Heaven are amongst the many forage sources producing a rich strong taste.

3) Finchley Hills honey comes in a 270-gram jar. The small apiary consists of a number of hives from a back garden in Finchley and the bees forage on trees and plants in gardens, parks and allotments within a mile. Each colony chooses its own honey-making secret recipe based on the flowers available. For this reason, honey from different hives can taste differently. North London has plenty of wide-open spaces to complement lots of back-gardens provided a rich hunting ground for all its busy bees.

4) 'Hazel's Honey' comes in a 270-gram jar from a colony in west London. The honey is bright, light and inviting and is testament to the abundance of pollen and nectar from local gardens and green spaces. The apiary is in Ruislip from where the bees can forage on local trees and plants in gardens, parks and allotments within a mile. The colony chooses its own honey-making secret recipe based on the flowers and plants available providing some fine seasonal variations.
