PIN Cirilo Filipino Kainan
A local restaurant serving Filipino cuisine
Cirilo is a hidden gem in Whitechapel, a wonderful family-owned restaurant serving filipino cuisine. Visitors looking for top-quality filipino food would definitely find it here.
Many people say that Filipino food is the 'original fusion cuisine’, this is due to the multiple groups of colonisers and countries that traded with the Philippines for hundreds of years from around the world. Countries like China, Spain, and the USA have had a lot of influence on the food, providing diners with an abundance of choices. Fortunately, Cirilo has plenty of options and serve dishes that are influenced by these countries.
Visitors will find classics like Kare-Kare, a peanut-butter based stew usually served with oxtail. Another filipino favourite to be found here is the popular Sinigang, a soup that has the perfect balance of sour and savoury and can be served with pork, seafood, or even a vegetarian version. Visitors may also be delighted to find a spanish influenced dish called Tocino - pork dishes marinated in multiple ingredients for a few days creating a natural red colour to the pork, usually stir-fried with a sweet and savoury dish to not miss.
