PIN The Fashion and Textile Museum
Fashion and education under one roof
Fashion and Textile design have a rich history, a history that is not covered enough in the UK. Throughout the evolution of fashion from the 40s to today, there have been many new techniques that have been developed over the years using the different textile designs from around the world. London is blessed with a museum dedicated to its art - The Fashion and Textile museum.
Located in Bermondsey, the Museum of Fashion and Textiles is the only museum in the UK that is dedicated to showing the industry to the public. This initiative was founded in 2003 by a British design icon - Dame Xandra Rhodes. The museum itself is run by Newham College.
The museum contains displays from famous designers around the world, such as Christian Dior, Balenciaga, and many more. It also provides educational workshops and courses to the public. The workshops can help visitors refine their skills in textiles, from 'couture' techniques to fashion drawing, T-shirt printing, and many more. In addition, the museum also provides computer design courses, to help you with photoshop, adobe illustrator, and many more.
