Pleasance theatre is a fringe theatre located in Islington, and its primary aim is to uncover new talents for the future of theatre.

It opened in 1995 and since then has received compliments from highly regarded names. As well as hosting popular comedians such as; Michael McIntyre, Russell Brand, Micky Flanagan, Mark Watson, Adam Hills and Mark Thomas. Pleasant theatre has a sister home in Edinburgh as well and is part of the Pleasant theatre trust. It has a standard capacity of 260, and rents out its venue for shows.

Apart of gaining a lot of respect from comedians, pleasance theatre apparently gains its strength from the actors that grace its stages; so through its shows has become highly respected. The prices are also reasonable, and there is bar where you can enjoy drinks before the show. Seating is not allocated, so it is recommended to arrive early to get the seat of your choosing.
According to its website; 'Pleasance' means:
1. a pleasure ground 2. a pleasant and secluded part of a garden. 3. a fundamental feeling that is hard to define but that people desire to experience
