PIN The Market Porter
Atmospheric Old Pub
It will be a cold day in hell when this place isn’t packed to the gunwales. The reasons for its popularity are plainly apparent: a handsome, old-fashioned room; a plum location; and one of the best real-ale selections in London. The Market Porter is most definitely a real ale pub, with up to nine traditional ales constantly changing, its a beer festival every day of the week. The Market Porter enjoys an attractive setting in a historic district of London – the Borough Market, so much so that the pub was transformed into the `Third Hand Book Emporium` in the film `Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban`, and was situated next to `The Leaky Cauldron`!
Beer tourists will find plenty to enjoy in this quintessentially London boozer – all brass, bars, barrels and beer mats. There’s a dining room upstairs that couldn`t be more different from the downstairs bar, it is cosy, warm with a homely feel. The choices of food are typically pub grub from the basic burger, pies to fish and chips - `belly-warming` and unpretentious and more importantly all the ingredients came from Borough Market
