Bermondsey's resident local coffee roasters

When these two North Americans moved to London one of the only things they found was lacking was a good dark roast coffee. When they realised there was no affordable way for them to get hold of a good dark roast they did what all young entrepreneurs do - they started a company. All they needed was a space to roast and a customer base to provide for.

Enter Scooter Cafe. This local coffee shop on Lower Marsh has been serving a dedicated local community for quite a few years and when the owner and the broke blokes got talking the former opened up his scooter repair shop in Bermondsey as a roasting location. In return the broke blokes play barista in the quirkiest of quirky environments. Surrounded by scooter repair parts, vintage espresso machines from all over Europe, old airplane pieces and just about everything else odd and vintage, you can sit down and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee in the most relaxed of environments. No plugs to charge laptops, no wifi to hook up to - just pure, unbeatable, human interaction.

Now, both these blokes have full time jobs during the week but if you head to Scooter Works in Bermondsey on a Saturday between 9:30am and 2pm you'll be graced with the beautiful aroma of roasting coffee, the satisfaction of a perfect cup of liquid gold and a beautifully flowing conversation with everyone and anyone that steps inside.
