The multi-markets in Camden Market

An alternative view of British culture

Camden Market is one of the most visited place of London. One of the reasons is the size and diversity of the place which is divided in 5 parts : Camden Lock Market, Historic Camden Stables Market, Camden Lock Village, Buck Street Market, and Inverness Street Market. Each one of them provides a uniquely, different environment. You will notice this pretty quickly by observing the style of dress of visitors and locals alike and the type of the shops available.

Actually, Camden Market hosts huge punk, the hippie and ‘goth’ contingents. Cyberdog is a very representative shop the punks . Once you are here, it seems like an electro club with dancers at the top. Entering at street level you have to go dowstairs and visit the 3 floors. You will be able to find a variety of unusual items useful in music festivals for example (lots of fluorescent stuff). I will keep the contents of the last floor a secret ! Moreover, if you are a big fan of the vintage things , you will be amazed by all the articles that the shops provide.

But Camden Market has so much more to offer. An authentic athmosphere, tourists coming from all around the world, and…food !!! A lot of food from everywhere. French, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Chinese, Vietnamese,… you will be definitly satisfied it’s really pleasant. However, be aware that the place is a tourist trap and attracts large crowds.
By the way, if you come from Camden Town Station, turn right and keep going. You will find « The Camden Market » which is NOT Camden Market at all. It is just a nice little market in which you can only find clothes (tee shirt mostly).

Camden Market was one of my favourite destinations since I am in London. Now, it is your turn : enjoy !
