The Breakfast Club Experience

Epic Queues For An Epic Breakfast

Based on D’Arblay Street, Soho, The Breakfast Club is characterised at first by the snaking queues stretching far around the corner. With people of all different backgrounds gathered, you wonder just what the fuss is all about. After all, how good can a breakfast be?

Standing outside for forty minutes gave me ample time to think about this and I had the opportunity to talk to some of the regulars. James, 25, said “the Breakfast Club is a cool place to hang, there are great vibes inside and the staff are super friendly”.

What about the food though? The atmosphere alone can’t be worth forty minutes.

“Incredible, the best breakfast you can get in Soho.”

Finally I made it in and was immediately seated on a communal table with a selection of Soho’s hippest crowd (I think I was only guy there without a man-bun and plaid shirt). A glance at the menu revealed a multitude of menu options catering for all dietary desires. I went for a ‘reggie the veggie’ (£9.20) and a health conscious smoothie (£4.40), green is good after all. I’m one of those unshakably obnoxious vegetarian types and I have to say I was very impressed with the grub. Veggie sausages, fried potatoes, eggs with deliciously golden yolks, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, beans and a toasted multigrain bloomer all compiled perfectly to give any omnivorous breakfast a run for its money. The smoothie washed it all down well, with the spinach, mint, mango and apple making me feel like Popeye with a vegan twist.

So The Breakfast Club, was it worth the wait? I’d heard so many good things and maybe the queue reinforced my confirmation bias, but the food was top notch and I actually enjoyed the social aspect of group tables. I liked that I never felt compelled to rush my food and get out, despite the long line of people clamouring to get in. If you’re visiting London and want breakfast with a twist, this is the place to go.
