With healthy eating being all the rage at the moment, cafes have been appearing in Central Lon-don, offering the most scrumptious treats your tastebuds can imagine - but completely guilt free! If you don’t visit at least one of these places you are denying yourself an experience.
The Wild Food Cafe
Hidden in the backstreets of Covent Garden, is a raw-centric, vegan/vegetarian eatery. Their col-ourful building exterior reflects that of the brilliant and bright food combinations they offer. The all raw desserts, created from gourmet, fresh, natural ingredients will not only leave your tummy feel-ing satisfied but your whole body! “We aim to use superfoods and nutrient packed ingredients,” said co-founder Aiste “We believe this will support our ethos of promoting aliveness and leave all our customers feeling good!”. Be sure to try the Banana Bread on your visit - an all time favourite among Wild Food Cafe Customers!
It’s not just the food that should tempt you, when inside you will be transported away from Central London and in to an oasis of colour, community and brilliance. With fine ingredients comes a fine price, as they also offer savoury meals too - expect a 2 course meal for 2 to cost around £30.
Detox Kitchen
Juxtaposing the architecture of The Wild Food Cafe, is Detox Kitchen on Mortimer Street. The ap-proach to the interior was minimalist, clean and bright - even just entering the cafe you feel a wave of calm wash over you from the simplicity of your surroundings. However, they share similar values as Detox Kitchen is also intent on creating a variety of plant based foods that are packed with fla-voursome ingredients to clear the body of toxins. How on earth will you decide between their Raw Cocoa and Coconut Slice or the delectable Beetroot Brownies? You can be sure that both will be just as delicious, their priority is to please the tastebuds and let the ingredients work their magic on your body after! And seeing as their counter treats only cost between £3-£5 each, why not just try both anyway!
RAWLigion
The newly opened store on Tottenham Street has had overwhelmingly fantastic reviews. With only a small seating area it is more of a ‘grab and go’ style establishment which is perfect for a London traveller who is looking for something quick but healthy! All organic, all raw and all health inducing, RAWligion has it all. Tasty treats, yummy fresh squeezed juices and their not to be missed range of smoothies and shakes! John, the founder, expressed that he started RAWligion after a personal journey that lead him to the conclusion that eating the right food can cure illness’ where western medicine fails. He wanted to spread his findings, thus RAWligion was born! Expect a shake and a treat to keep you going through the rest of your busy day for about £10!
Mantovani
This place on Tottenham Court Road must be pointed out because even though unlike the other cafe’s, the Italian Gelato & Cafe’s soul aim isn’t providing tasty raw food, but they do have options for those with special dietary requirements! They serve a simply delicious Vegan Gelato! Lucy, the manager, explained “We have revived the Italian art of Ice Cream making for everyone to enjoy, there’s no reason that we should exclude those with special dietary requirements!” So if you are Vegan and craving ice cream on your London visit, there is an option!
These are just a few of the many hotspots for healthy yet tasty treats that you can find in the City Centre when visiting London. Make sure on your next trip you excite your taste buds to guilt free treats!
