Sky Garden

20 Fenchurch Street

I walked from St. Dunstan Garden towards Monument station when the view of a giant walkie-talkie appeared in front of me. 20 Fenchurch Street is a commercial skyscraper, nicknamed 'The Walkie-Talkie' because of its distinctive shape. I was writing my 'Secret Gardens' article at that time and the idea seemed ironic that not far from a secret garden stands London's highest public garden which every Londoner knows about, but only a few have visited.

I often hear people say: 'Of course I know about the Sky Garden; have you ever been there?... No?... Me neither...' Or - 'YES!!! I finally visited Sky Garden!' (you've been living in London for five years now, calm down!). The reason why tourists and even Londoners appear not to have enjoyed the amazing opportunity for a breath-taking view FOR FREE is because you need to book a free ticket in advance. BUT, all you simply need to do is to go to the www.skygarden.london to book your free visit (yes, it is as simple as it sounds!). Tickets are released three weeks in advance, but can be booked up to one hour in advance.

Include 'The Sky Garden' in your must-do list earlier rather than later and enjoy the majestic Central London view; an urban jungle framed by flourishing gardens of 20 Fenchurch Street building.

Getting there is not difficult (firstly, it is hard not to notice a 160 meter building!); the closest stations are Monument, Bank, London Bridge and Fenchurch Street railway.
